Asian American
Asian Heritage Society Asian Heritage Awards ASIA IN ASIA

Achievement. Accomplishment. Heritage. Legacy.

The Asian Heritage Awards embodies these and more

Awards are not just an approval rating. They are a compilation of many things. They celebrate accomplishment, and they also celebrate how an individual or organization connects with the community. That's why these awards are unique.

The Asian Heritage Awards are an opportunity for the community to learn about an individual or organization’s work and appreciate it by acknowledging it as part of a voting process. All the nominees you see here and in the pages of the May 22-29 edition of ASIA, The Journal  of Culture & Commerce, were nominated by their peers or individuals familiar with their work.

Our API community in Southern California, in San Diego, Los Angeles and Orange County, indeed, thought so much of these individual accomplishments that they wanted to share them with others.

To individuals and organizations, foremost, represent achievement. What they have accomplished is their legacy to their children, grandchildren and the community that has nurtured them. It is a testament to their accomplishments that so many are represented here this year – double the candidates in 2009.

Our nominees are educators, doctors, lawyers, scientists, artists, corporate leaders, community activists, journalists, engineers,

writers, philosophers, scientists, singers, playwrights and pioneers of every kind. They are of Vietnamese descent, Chinese, Japanese,

Filipino, Korean, Laotian, Asian Indian, Taiwanese, Indonesian, Thai, Tibetan, Hawaiian, Polynesian.

To us, there can be no more appropriate time for role models like these.

We are on the verge of change, looking for those who confirm that a path to service is a worthy one. That is why our choice for special honors this year – CC YIN– is so important. He and the other individuals and organizations represented here are the best and brightest of our API community and the greater community of human kind.  We salute them all.

We thank the nominators and, above all, the nominees, who have placed their trust in us to help share their achievements and to celebrate them with the world..
